3-Day Mount Kenya Hike: Conquer Point Lenana Summit

This Mount Kenya Hike where you trek Mt Kenya the second highest mountain in Africa standing at 5199m above the sea level. This tour suits trekkers or hikers who are well acclimatized and energetic for the beauty of Mt Kenya. Enjoy the best point Lenana where the trek will end and this is the third highest peak point. Detailed Itinerary

Day1. Nairobi to Nanyuki, hike to Old Moses camp

Be picked from Nairobi town and head to Mt Kenya national park. At around 12:00pm, we will have our lunch at the lodge and then head to the briefing point. Registration will take place as you acquire all the required materials and hiring a porter that helps you to carry extra luggage. The hike will begin with the guidance of the park ranger lasting for 3 to 4 hours ad you pass through montane forest, bamboos and heath zones as you find your way to Old Moses at 3300m. The trail is a home to different wildlife such as elephants, bush bucks, buffaloes and many birds which will be spotted.

Day2. Proceed the hike to Shipton’s hut

We proceed to ascend to Shipton’s hut (4236m) which will last for about 7 to 8 hours. The walk today is long which requires to carry enough drinking water, energy giving snack and packed lunch hence need one to be physically fit. There is Mackinder’s valley with unique plant vegetation such as giant lobelia, groundsel and many more. Spend a night to Shipton’s hut below the Glacier Peak.

Day3. Hike to the summit, descend and transfer back to Nairobi

Wake up early as 0300hours and start the challenge of quanckering the summit with a help of a bright light torch on the head. Enjoy sunrise at point Lenana where you get to enjoy the best photography moments. Also, Mt Kilimanjaro can be seen while on a clear day though the climb is tough an unavoidable to any route.

After achieving the summit (Lenana peak). The third highest peak, take memorable photos and then descend back to Shipton’s hut for lunch. Proceed to descend to the gate for debriefing and returning all the required materials. Meet the driver guide that will take you back to Nairobi and this will mark the end of the tour.
