Detailed itinerary
Day 1. Nairobi to Sirimon gate and hike to Old Moses camp
Be picked from the hotel/airport in Nairobi and transfer to Mt Kenya at Sirimon gate. The journey will take about 4 hours to reach Nanyuki town. Proceed to Sirimon gate for registration, briefing, hiring potters and other material you need to use while on the hike. Begin the trek with enough drinking water and energy giving snack as you pass through the forest, meet different birds and mammals such as the varvet monkeys, duikers and many more others. Find your way to Old Moses camp standing at 3300m where you spend a night.
Day 2. Hike to Shipton’s hut
Wake up with a heartily breakfast followed by hike uphill as you will cross Ontulili river. Encounter the moorland vegetation cover as you cross the Mackinders valley as you enjoy the panoramic view of the valley. The hike will last for 6 to 7 hours including stopovers for picnic lunch, photos and other memorable time. Arrive at Shipton’s camp where you will spend a night
Day 3. Hike to point Lenana and descend to Old Moses camp
Leave the camp at around 0300hours as you penetrate to point Lenana the third highest peak. By around 0630hours, you will have a great sunrise moments take photos as you plan to descend. Lunch will be served at the Shipton’s hut and then descend more to Old Moses camp for your last night in the mountain.
Day 4. Descend to Sirimon gate and transfer back to Nairobi
Descend to Sirimon gate for debriefing, returning all the hired material and then bid farewell to the crew of trekkers. Meet the driver guide that will take you back to Nairobi to catch up with your flight.
