7-Day Bwindi and Tsavo Safari: Gorilla Trekking and Big Five Adventure

The 7 days Bwindi & Tsavo National park safari will ensure a maximum exploration of the densely forested Southern parts of Uganda and savannah wildernesses of Tsavo. Visitors will not only enjoy the natural areas but also encounter the wild animals that inhabit these places.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Kampala and drive to Bwindi National Park

A professional guide will pick you up from the hotel in a comfortable safari vehicle. Proceed on the 10-hour journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in South western Uganda.
Enjoy the journey as they marvel at the beautiful landscape of Uganda characterized of plateaus, highlands and lowlands with breathtaking forests and savanna vegetation not forgetting the beautiful weather.

There will be a lunch stopover in Mbarara at Igongo Cultural center where visitors will have a deep dive into the history of Banyankole people and also local dish. After a meal, you’ll continue with the drive to the South up to Bwindi. On arrival at the park, check in at the lodge, unwind the entire evening in your rooms as you view the forest from the balconies. Dinner will be served later at sunset and you will stay for a peaceful overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa cultural tour

You will be served a delicious morning meal at sunrise at the lodge. After the meal, embark on the briefing about gorilla trekking by the National Park Rangers. After briefing, you’ll enter the forest and embark on a gorilla tracking tour that will take you up to afternoon. You will meet mountain gorillas that live in families and therefore a lively family of gorillas will be observed.

After lunch, embark on the drive to the Batwa settlements in the area.

The Batwa are indigenous inhabitants of the impenetrable forest and have settled here for thousands of years. These indigenous people will entertain you and also provide insights into their way of life as hunter gatherers, you will be equipped with information about their culture and traditions. At sunset, you will transfer back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Entebbe. Fly to Mombasa

Have an early meal at the lodge in the morning. After the delicious breakfast, embark on the journey back to Entebbe International Airport that will take approximately 10 hours.

After the local dish, continue to Entebbe airport to catch a flight to Mombasa, Kenya. Enjoy beautiful sights from the plane and on arrival in Mombasa you will continue to the hotel, check in and relax as you await the flavorsome dinner. After dinner, head to your room and relax as you view the vast Indian ocean. Have rest for an overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Mombasa to Tsavo West. Evening game drive

After the meal, embark on the journey to Tsavo West National Park which will take approximately 4 hours and 25 minutes as you enjoy the spectacular landforms of Kenya.

After lunch, transfer to your lodge for relaxation. Enjoy the views of Tsavo National Park and you will also observe some of the animals in the vicinity of the lodge. In the evening, have a game drive that will further avail chances to see animals especially hyenas, cheetahs, Tsavo lions, leopards and elephants. Transfer back to the lodge at dusk for dinner and accommodation for the night.

Day 5: Morning game drive and transfer to Tsavo East National park

After the meal, you will embark on the exciting morning game drive where you will have opportunities to view the big cats that inhabit the National Park.

After the morning game drive, you’ll transfer back to the lodge where you will have lunch and later check out. Embark on the transfer to Tsavo East National Park, a journey that covers a distance of approximately 117 kilometers. Continue with the journey up to the lodge. On arrival in the National Park, relax and have an evening tour around the lodge that will help you relax from the busy day and also enjoy the connection with nature.

Day 6: Explore Tsavo East National Park

Have breakfast, and later embark on a guided morning game drive in the plains of Tsavo East which is a home to hereditary Tsavo lions which visitors will spot as they enjoy their homeland. These lions share their home with other animals both predators and prey. In the mid-morning, you will transfer back to the lodge for lunch to keep you energetic on the drive which also gives motivation.

After lunch, transfer to Mudanda rock and explore the area as you enjoy the picturesque views of the surroundings. At around 4:00 PM, transfer to Lugard falls in the park that are such a breathtaking land form and also offer opportunities for extraordinary nature photography. Enjoy the waterfalls and later transfer to the lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Mombasa

Have a mouth-watering breakfast at the lodge and later pack your luggage and check out of the lodge for the three hours’ transfer back to Mombasa. This will mark the end of an unforgettable safari adventure.
